Qatar Charity (QC), in partnership with Pakistan Welfare Forum (PWF), generated donations worth QR1.342 million to support educational and welfare programmes for the Pakistani community in Qatar.
This was announced at a sohour event hosted by QC and PWF at Regency Hall in Doha, recently. Fareed Khalil Al Siddieqy, Head of Admin Support Division, Qatar Charity, was the Guest of Honour on the occasion, while Community Welfare Attache’ at Pakistan Embassy Hafiz Junaid Sial was the Chief Guest.
A number of professionals, businessmen and philanthropists from the Pakistani community participated in the event. The donations announced on the occasion will be utilised for the educational and welfare activities of the Pakistani community.
Speaking on the occasion, Siddieqy hailed the partnership between QC and PWF. He said that QC has been working with various communities in Qatar for a long time and has established a special center to take care of deserving and needy individuals and families.
“Qatar Charity believes in providing hope and serve vulnerable communities in a dignified way by responding to their humanitarian and development needs,” said Siddieqy.
QC has divided its operations in different sections such as development projects, humanitarian assistance and sponsorship. Siddieqy added that QC spent nearly QR1.595 million on 58 beneficiaries of the Pakistani community in 2018 mainly in education and health sectors. He assured that this assistance would continue in the coming year.
Siddieqy said the ties between QC and PWF would be strengthened and enlarged in the coming months for carrying out various welfare projects for deserving Pakistani families in Qatar.
Hafiz Junaid Sial was all praise for the Pakistani community members for their wholehearted participation in PWF’s flagship programme of helping deserving families.
Speaking on the occasion, PWF President Ahmad Hussain praised QC for its steadfast support and cooperation in partnering PWF in carrying out various projects and initiatives to uplift the deprived segments of the communities through education. He noted that ‘The First Ihsaan School’ was set up recently for out-of-school children of Pakistani expatriates in Qatar. This first-of-its-kind school is owned by the Ministry of Education and Education Above All (EAA) while it is financially supported by AWQAF and operated by PWF.
Ahmad also unveiled PWF’s Community Development Programme under which skill training would be imparted to expatriate Pakistani youngsters, both male and females, in a variety of trades, to help them become part of the workforce in Qatar.
Earlier, PWF General Secretary Tahir Mehmood highlighted PWF’s achievements in various welfare programmes including education, family welfare, and in providing medical and legal help to needy families. He hailed the support of the Pakistani community noting that the strength of PWF lies in the unprecedented participation of Pakistani expatriates and associations.
PWF’s Founder Member Mohammed Idrees Anwar delivered an inspiring speech on the occasion, quoting various verses of the Holy Quran and sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), for giving special care to needy families through Zakat
and Sadaqa. He urged the participants to become PWF members and help the needy families of the Pakistani community in Qatar. He said that
PWF has managed to engage the community through its consistent and committed ties under the patronage of the Pakistan embassy and exceptional cooperation of QC.
