The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) on Tuesday signed 10 new construction contracts for Infrastructure Development projects of Citizens’ Sub-Divisions at a total value of around QR 4 billion, to serve more than 8,400 land plot in 10 areas around the country.
The press meeting was held in the presence of H.E. Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al-Muhannadi, President of the Public Works Authority, Eng. Yousef Abdulrahman Al Emadi, Projects Affairs Director at Ashghal, Eng. Saoud Ali Al-Tamimi, Roads Projects Department Manager, Mr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Attan, CMC Vice-President, Mr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al Hinzab, CMC Member– Constituency 12, Mr. Ali bin Khalaf Al-Kubaisi, CMC Member– Constituency 3, Mr. Meshaal bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, CMC Member– Constituency 18, Mr. Jabr Mohammed Saif al-Suwaidi, CMC Member– Constituency 20, Mr. Abdullah bin Mgalad Al-Muraikhi, CMC Member– Constituency 25, Mr. Mubarak bin Fraich Al-Salem, CMC Member– Constituency 15. A number of managers and officials from Ashghal also attended the event, in addition to representatives of the awarded companies.
On this occasion, Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al-Muhannadi, President of Ashghal, said thatbased on the directives of His Excellency the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Infrastructure projects of Citizens’ Sub-divisions are considered a top priority.He added, “Today's contracts are signed with a total value of approximately QR 4 billion to serve more than 8,400 residential plots in 10 areas, and this is considered a first step in Ashghal's plan for 2020 to develop the citizens’ sub-divisions throughout the country, as more projects will be awarded to covered additional areas in the country.”
H.E. said: "We are pleased that all ten contracts have been awarded to Qatari companies and we are confident that the Qatari contractor is able to implement these projects." H.E. pointed out that the authority implemented new initiatives in coordination with contractors that would accelerate the pace of implementation and deliver projects on time, in addition to reducing the inconvenience caused by infrastructure works within residential areas."

Mr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Attan, CMC Vice-President, thankedHis Excellency the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior for the great attention to development projects throughout the country. He said: "There is no doubt that new projects to develop the infrastructure are very important to the citizen, as it provides him with an integrated infrastructure of rainwater and sewage drainage networks as well as advanced roads and other services.”
Mr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al Hinzab, CMC Member– Constituency 12 said that signing contracts today is new evidence that the Public Works Authority is committed to providing an integrated infrastructure for citizens in accordance with the highest standards in line with the efforts of the country in various fields.
Mr. Ali bin Khalaf Al Kubaisi, CMC Member - Constituency 3, said: “We congratulate the residents of Duhail South area for signing a contract for Roads & Infrastructure Project in South Duhail & Umm Lakhba, which will serve a large segment of society as it is located in a vital and important area.
For his part, Mr. Meshaal bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, CMC Member – Constituency 18, said: “We see great keenness from Ashghal on the continuous response with the members of the Central Municipal Council as well as the development of infrastructure for citizens’ sub-divisions all around the country.”
Mr. Jabr bin Mohammed Al Suwaidi, CMC Member – Constituency 20 said: “We are delighted today to attend the signing of contracts which are a continuation of Ashghal’s clear efforts that reflect Qatar’s attention to its citizens and infrastructure projects that serve them. Eng. Yousef Al Emadi, Projects Affairs Director at Ashghal added that the signing of contracts today comes as a continuation of the plan developed by the authority this year to provide advanced roads and infrastructure for citizens’sub-divisions in different areas.The new projects cover 10 areas distributed over the north, south and west of the country, including Al Ebb and Leabaib, Jeryan Nejaima, south of Al Duhail, Umm Lekhba, Al Mearad, Al Meshaf south and others.
For his part, Eng. Saoud Al-Tamimi, Roads Projects Department Manager at Ashghal noted that the Public Works Authority is currently working on completing 22 infrastructure projects for citizens’ sub-divisionswhich are under implementation, at a total cost of QR 9billion and 550 milion, to serve 11 areas. These areas include Al Foroush, Al Kharaitiyat, Rawdat Egdaim, Izghawa, Al Wukair South, Al Shamal, Al Mearad and Southwest of Muaither, Al Mashaf South, Al Ebb and Leabaib and others. These projects cover approximately 20,728 residential plots.
During the press meeting Eng. Noor Ashkanani from the Roads Projects Department at Ashghal gave a brief presentation about the citizens’ sub-divisions infrastructure projects currently being implemented. The projects will provide more than 1,543 km of roads and 410 km of pedestrian and cycle paths, in addition to infrastructure development works including sewage, surface and groundwater and TSE networks with a total length of 1,180 km. Eng. Noor Ashkanani also provided a brief about the new projects that were signed today.

The New Contracts
The ten projects signed are planned tocommence during the first quarter of 2020, and upon completion they will provide advanced roads and infrastructure including the provision of a total of 223 km of roads, 325 km of pedestrian and bicycle paths, more than 20,000 parking lots, about 192 km of sewage networks, 305 km of stormwater and groundwater drainage networks, and 142 km of TSE networks.
Contract 1: Roads and Infrastructure in Duhail South and Umm Lekhba - Package 1
Awarded to "Petroserv" and "Roadbridge" JV at a value of 422 million QR. The project serves 862 residential plots by implementing road works with a length of about 14 km, 44 km of pedestrian and cycle paths and more than 2,600 parking lots, as well as the development of infrastructure including surface and groundwater drainage networks, sewage networks and a TSE network.
Contract 2: Roads and Infrastructure inJeryan Nejaima
Awarded to "Petroserv" and "Roadbridge" JV at a value of QR 352 million, which will serve 625 land plots. The project includes more than 15 km of road works, pedestrian and cycle lanes of about 46 km and more than 3000 parking lots. This is in addition to providing surface and groundwater drainage networks, sewage networks and a TSE network.
Contract 3: Roads and Infrastructure in South of Al Meshaf –Package 7
Awarded to "Petroserv" and "Roadbridge" JV at a value of 422 million QR. The project serves 1,394 land plots, and includes the construction and development of about 20 km of roads, 57 km of pedestrian and cycle paths, in addition to providing surface and groundwater drainage networks, sewage networks, and a TSE network.
Contract 4: Roads and Infrastructure in Al Mearad and Southwest of Muaither – Package 3
Awarded to "Petroserv" and "Roadbridge" JV at a value of QR 257 million. The project will serve 466 plots through the implementation of 16 km of road works, about 6 km of pedestrian and cycle lanes and more than 2,500 parking lots. This is in addition to infrastructure development including surface and groundwater drainage networks, sewage networks and a TSE network.
Contract 5: Roads and Infrastructure in Al Ebb and Leabaib – Package 4
Awarded to "QBS Constructions" Company for a value of QR 587 million. The project will serve 1,097 land plots, and includes the construction and development of 26 km of roads, 67 km of pedestrian and cycle lanes and more than 4,000 parking lots. This is in addition to providing surface and groundwater drainage networks, sewage networks and a TSE network.
Contract 6: Roads and Infrastructure in North of Mall of Qatar and Celebration Road – Package 2
Awarded to "QBS Constructions" Company at a value of QR 259 million. The project will serve 851 land plots, and includes the construction and development of about 16 km of roads, 3 km of pedestrian and cycle lanes, in addition to providing a drainage network and a TSE network.
Contract 7: Roads and Infrastructure in Al Mearad and Southwest of Muaither – Package 6
Awarded to "UrbaCon" and "InfraRoad Trading & Contracting" JV at a value of QR 498 million. The project will serve 853 land plots, and includes the construction and development of about 30 km of roads, 5 km of pedestrian and cycle lanes, and more than 3,430 parking spaces. The project also includes the implementation of sewage drainage networks, surface and groundwater drainage networks, and a TSE network.
Contract 8: Roads and Infrastructure in Al Kharaitiyat and Izghawa –Package 2
Awarded to “UrbaCon Trading & Contracting Co.” and “InfraRoad Trading & Contracting” JV at a value of QR 499 million to serve 1,492 plots. The project includes road works at a length of more than 39 km, providing pedestrian and cycle paths of 91 km and 5340 parking lots, in addition to providing surface and groundwater drainage networks, and a TSE network.
Contract 9: Roads and Infrastructure inSemaisma West – Package 1
Awarded to “Iris Trading and Contracting Company” at a value of QR 305 million. The project will serve 377 land plots, and includes the construction and development of about 10 km of roads and 5 km of pedestrian and cycle lanes. This is in addition to providing surface and groundwater drainage networks, sewage networks and a TSE network.
Contract 10: Roads and Infrastructure in Al Eqda, Al Heedan and Al Khor – Package 1
Awarded to “Al Darwish Engineering Company” at a value of 303 million QR. The project serves 399 land plots, and includes the construction and development of 37 km of roads, providing surface and groundwater drainage networks, a sewage network and a TSE network.
