Qatar, Argentina sign deal, MoUs to boost relations

The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and Argentine President Mauricio Macri witnessed the signing of an agreement and several memoranda of understanding (MoU), at the Presidential Palace in Buenos Aires on Friday.
The agreement, signed by Qatar and Argentina, will waive visa requirements for diplomatic, private and official passport holders of both the countries. The two sides have also inked an MoU exempting Qatari nationals from needing a visa to enter Argentina.
Besides, they have signed MoUs on cooperation in the fields of education and sports. The cultural MoU seeks to consolidate and encourage bilateral cooperation on education, higher education and scientific research.
The MoU on sports aims to build ties between Qatar’s Ministry of Culture and Sports and Argentina’s General Secretariat of Sport to enhance the possibilities and utilise the opportunities for sports cooperation. It also lets Qatar make use of the Argentine expertise in this field.
The two sides also signed an MoU for cooperation between Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Environment and Argentina’s Ministry of Production and Labour to boost cooperation in the fields of agriculture, livestock and fisheries.
The signing ceremony was attended by members of the Qatari delegation accompanying the Amir and several Argentine ministers.
