|QATAR Airways Cargo has launched cargo services to Kuwait. Cargo operations to Kuwait are served with an Airbus A300 freighter. The new dedicated freighter route to the capital Kuwait City complements the existing freighter services in the Gulf to Riyadh, Dubai and Bahrain and will be used to carry cargo goods ranging from perishables, consolidated shipment and pharmaceuticals to garments, food items and equipment for oil and petroleum companies. The cargo upgrade in the Gulf follows Qatar Airways´ announcement of a major frequency increase of its regional passenger operations in Saudi Arabia, which will increase flight to Riyadh and Jeddah.

|POLLING for the fourth Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections passed off without any reports of glitches on Tuesday, with a large number of voters exercising their electoral franchise at the 29 polling stations. Women seemed to outnumber men at several booths, especially in those constituencies where female candidates contested. All eyes were on constituency No. 9 where two women candidates, Fatima al Kuwari and Sheikha al Jufairi, were trying their luck to book a place in the municipal council. Jufairi won handsomely.
