Doha Bank to sponsor third PSA squash series

TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK

DOHA DOHA Bank will sponsor the third leg of the PSA Challenger Squash Series to be organised by the Qatar Squash Federation from February 23 to 25.

Doha Bank and the QSF signed the agreement for the sponsorship on Tuesday. Doha Bank Group CEO R Seetharaman and Mohammaed Salel al Khulaifi, a QSF Board Member, inked the sponsorship documents on Tuesday. Also present on the occasion were Dr Hamad al Nuaimi, also a QSF Board Member, and Alaaeldeen Allouba, Technical Expert at the QSF.

Seetharaman said Doha Bank had long been associated with sports and always felt proud to become partner of sports events and activities.

“Doha Bank is proud to be associated with the PSA Challenger Squash Series, which will provide opportunity to several national team players to improve their world rankings and getting a chance to compete against some strong squash players in the world,” said Seetharaman.

Khulaifi expressed his deep gratitude to Doha Bank for coming forward to support the event. “We have had a long relationship with Doha Bank and this event is another chapter in that context. “A lot of good players are figuring in the three-day event, which is a good platform for our own players to perform well and improve their game,” he added.

On the first day, qualifying rounds will take place. Four qualifiers will advance to the 16-player main draw.

Dutch player Dylan Bennett has been given the pride of place. He is followed by Pakistan’s seasoned campaigner, Manzoor Zaman, second seed. England’s Anthony Graham has got the third seed and Pakistan’s Waqas Mehboob has been seeded fourth.

Qatar’s talented youngster Ahmed al Tamimi has been given a wild card in the main round, while five other local players have sent in their names for the qualifying round.

They are Abdulrahman al Maliki, Omar Abdullah Ahmed, Sadam Mehawesh, Faisal al Marri and Abdulwahab al Ishaq.
