QATAR Islamic Bank (QIB), which reported an increase of 8.2 percent in net profit for 2011, is confident of new business opportunities for the bank in 2012, Chairman Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al Thani has said. He was speaking at the annual general assembly of the bank on Monday.
Four killed in Yemen election violence
FOUR people were killed in clashes in southern Yemen on Tuesday as voters flocked to polling stations in a presidential election aimed at ending the rule of Ali Abdullah Saleh. Security forces clashed with tribesmen who were trying to prevent people from voting and were attacking polling stations. Saleh’s deputy, Abd Rabu Mansour Hadi, 67, is the sole candidate.
