MEEZA launches 2 data centres

TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK

DOHA MEEZA, a leading IT services and solutions provider in Qatar, has announced the launch of two new state-ofthe- art data centres, MVault 2 and M-Vault-3.

Deputy CEO of MEEZA, Ghada P El Rassi made the announcement during a press conference at the QITCOM Exhibition and Conference 2012 on Tuesday. MEEZA Chief Information Officer Chris Hazel, Chief Marketing Officer Jean Philip Sohier, Chief Financial Officer Ian Cannell and Chief Operations Officer Mitra Sherif were also present on the occasion.

Rassi said that both the data centres would be operational this year. While MVault- 3 will be functional from April 15, M-Vault 2 is expected to be effective from the third quarter of this year. She hoped that the launch of the new data centres would boost the performance of the ICT sector in Qatar and the region.

The new data centres are the first ‘green’ data centres in the region, which are LEED certified. “Today marks a new milestone for MEEZA as we deliver two additional Tier III data centres. Our new inter-connected and highly-secured facilities focus on back-up sites, disaster recovery solutions and business continuity solutions while offering managed services to our clients at the same time. As an end-toend service provider, we are committed to promoting IT innovation and bringing the most advanced solutions to Qatar and the region as a whole,” El Rassi said.

Located on its own campus about 30 kilometres outside Doha, M-Vault-2 is designed and built to Uptime Institute Tier III standards with 99.98 percent guaranteed availability.

It is LEED platinum certified, where it maximises energy to increase performance.

The world-class facility offers business continuity solutions for all key disaster recovery requirements criteria through service delivery and IT experts.

The second data centre, MVault- 3, is located close to MEEZA’s original data centre at Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) and is tailored for high-density computing for the purpose of servicing research, engineering, health, banking, pharmaceutical and technology sectors. It is LEED Gold certified because of its sustainable and environmentfriendly design.

“The launch of our new state-of-the-art data centres comes in line with the introduction of a number of new service offerings that include data centre services, infrastructure services, application services, managed IT solutions and cloud services.

Our new service offerings reflect this commitment. We provide industrial facilities at all levels, so that, our clients can focus on their core business,” El Rassi added.

MEEZA Data Centre services include premium collocation, data suites and data halls from which clients may chose the option of self-managing their IT equipment or avail themselves of MEEZA’s managed services. (JV)
