Snooker champ Aditya Mehta embraces pro tour with win
THE new Asian snooker champion, Aditya Mehta, 26, has bid adieu to the amateur circuit on a winning note. Contracted as full-time professional, he will soon embark on the world tour for two years in a row. Talking to Qatar Tribune, Mehta said his victory in Doha on Saturday, meant much to him as it was his first world title.
A Nobel laureate a year in Qatar
TEXAS A&M University at Qatar (Tamuq) and Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) signed an agreement on Sunday, in which a fund was endowed for the university to bring a Nobel Laureate to Qatar each year. The fund, comprising QR274,000 annually, is titled the Qapco Chair of Polymer Science and Engineering. It will provide for bringing a Nobel laureate under the auspices of Tamuq, where the laureate will hold the position of adjunct professor of chemistry.
