| A Pro-US President |
FRANCE is glad to be rid of
Nicolas Sarkozy, who lost the
country's presidency in a runoff
election this weekend to the
Socialist candidate, Francois
Hollande. He was ineffective in office

But the French will miss him more

| MANDATE FOR
CHANGE IN EUROPE |
THE French are revolting.
The Greeks, too. And it's
about time. Both countries
held elections on Sunday
that were in effect referendums
on the current European
economic strategy, and in both
countries voters turned two
thumbs down.
It's far from clear how soon the
votes will lead to changes ... |

Q.NBN, Vodafone Qatar tie up for high-speed network
TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK
DOHA
QATAR National Broadband Network (Q.NBN) and Vodafone Qatar have signed an interim wholesale agreement to bring highspeed communications to the residents of Qatar. The agreement was signed by Q.NBN CEO Mohamad al Mannai and Vodafone Qatar CEO Richard Daly.
The agreement will enable a licensed telecom operator to use Q.NBN’s network to deliver telecom services to customers. It is an important step towards establishing Q.NBN’s commercial offering in Qatar.
The signing represents the latest milestone in the relationship that begun last year when Q.NBN and Vodafone inked a heads of agreement.
This was to define how the two organisations could work together to realise the Qatari government’s objective to roll out an accessible nationwide high-speed fibre optic network.
Q.NBN is providing a state-ofthe- art passive fibre optics platform to enable all licensed operators to offer voice, high-speed Internet access and other data services to their customers.
Bringing the implementation of high-speed broadband one step nearer for households, businesses and government agencies, the agreement also paves the way for a long-term nationwide agreement between Q.NBN and Vodafone.
Under this interim wholesale agreement, Vodafone will initially provide broadband services to residential and business customers in Barwa City and Barwa Commercial Avenue.
