German Marshall Plan
EUROPEAN leaders seemed to understand, at least until recently, that even a partial breakdown of the eurozone would have a devastating economic and political impact on departing countries and on the European Union as a whole. But while they have repeatedly committed to ...
THE HONEST TRUTH ABOUT DISHONESTY

Baosteel to cut prices by 4% in July
SHANGHAI steel futures slipped on Tuesday, weighed down by concerns demand in top steel consumer China will remain weak through next month, prompting major producer Baosteel to cut prices for the first time this year. Baosteel Group, the world´s third biggest steelmaker and parent of Shanghai-listed listed Baoshan Iron and Steel , said it will cut prices of its main products by around 4 percent in July. The most traded rebar contract for October delivery on the Shanghai Futures Exchange dropped 0.6 percent to close at 4,100 ...

"The drop-back of oil prices may help, but it may be offset by further weakness in terms of consumer confidence," said Andrew Herdman, director general of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines. "We learnt in the ...
India´s industry stalls as economic woes mount
INDIA´S industrial output grew just 0.1 percent in April year-on-year, official data showed on Tuesday, adding to concerns about the economy and raising the chances of an interest rate cut next week. The manufacturing sector, which accounts for three-quarters of the industrial production index, expanded a weakerthan- expected 0.1 percent, while production of capital goods, a key indicator of investment, shrank 16.3 percent. "Frankly speaking I am disappointed and industry has not yet picked up," Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters after a meeting with leading industrialists. "The negative sentiments for investment which is continuing for some time are still there," he added, reiterating a ...
