| | Japan´s LNG, oil demand
likely to remain strong |
JAPAN´s decision to restart
two nuclear reactors idled
for safety checks after the
Fukushima catastrophe
won´t cut the country´s spiraling
fossil-fuel import bill
unless more atomic units are
brought back on line, traders
and analysts said.
Japan´s fuel purchases
soared as reactors were shut
down and put through safety
checks after the meltdowns
at Fukushima in March 2011,
dragging the world´s thirdbiggest
economy into its first
trade deficit in more than
three decades.
The reactors at the Ohi
plant operated by Kansai
Electric Power Co each have
a capacity of 1,180
megawatts and restarting
them would reduce LNG
usage by about 180,000

shadow of Europe crisis | WHEN the world´s most powerful
leaders meet in Mexico

Only host Mexico has
talked about the chance of
major progress on tackling
problems besetting the world
economy, unlike the sense of
urgency of recent years.
With the focus squarely on
Europe´s crisis, many G20
officials are pessimistic about
the chances of progress on
issues such as preventing the
kind of banking problems
that triggered the ... | | | Lockheed wins $490 mn
deal to buy F-35 parts | LOCKHEED Martin Corp
has won a US contract worth
$490 million to start buying
parts, material and components
for a seventh batch of
35 F-35 Joint Strike Fighter
planes, the Pentagon
announced on Friday.
Lockheed, the Pentagon´s
largest supplier, welcomed
the agreement and said it
would help ensure that the
$396 billion F-35 programme,
which has been
restructured three times in
recent years, continued to
meet its production schedules.
"This is an important milestone
in paving the way for
the acquisition of these aircraft,"
said Lockheed spokeswoman
Laurie Quincy.
News of the order came as
Lockheed continued to hire
temporary workers to maintain
F-35 production at its
plant in Fort Worth, Texas,
