QP, MoI sign deal for facilities in Mesaieed

QATAR Petroleum (QP) and the Ministry of Interior (MoI) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the housing and recreational facilities’ requirements of MoI staff in Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC).

The new agreement is in line with the earlier MoU signed by the two parties in November last year for the setting up of an Integrated Security Complex at MIC. The latest MoU was signed by Mohammed Jassim al Baker, director at Mesaieed, on behalf of QP and by Mohammed Jassim al Sulaiti, director of south security department, on behalf of MoI.

The signing ceremony, which was held on July 4 at MIC management building in Mesaieed, was attended by several senior officials from both QP and the ministry. According to the agreement, MoI will manage and maintain the existing 70 villas within the MoI accommodation complex, and the ministry will build a new mosque to replace the existing wooden mosque used by its personnel.

In addition, as part of the MoU, the ministry will be turning over three plots of land, after demolishing the existing three old buildings on the area to MIC’s discretion as per its development master plan. In return, MIC will provide MoI with new lands of the same size, where the ministry will build three replacement buildings. “This new agreement is another affirmation of our close relations and high level of cooperation with the MoI, and it also reflects our long-standing commitment to provide MIC residents with all essential facilities and services, ranging from housing facilities, security and many other things required for sustainable development,” said Baker.

Other senior QP officials who were present on the occasion included Maliq Omer Esmail al Dafea, manager for municipal and facilities services at MIC; Khalid Ahmed Asad N al Ansari, manager for health, safety, environment and waste management; Antoine Najib Haykal Nasser, acting manager for infrastructure; and Maisar el Qutami, MIC technical coordinator and acting manager of business and investors.
