Qatar Charity launches new electronic donation system

IHSAN YOUSSEF

DOHA QATAR Charity launched a new electronic donation system recently.

The system was launched at a special ceremony inaugurated by the Minister of Social Affairs HE Nasser bin Abdullah al Hemaidi, and attended by Yousef bin Ahmed al Kuwari, QC’s Chief Executive Officer; Brigadier- General Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah al Ansari, director of logistics department at the Ministry of the Interior; and Ahmed bin Abdullah al Mulla, director of the department of private associations and institutions at the Ministry of Social Affairs.

The ceremony was also attended by several QC officials, including Executive Director of the Department of Public Affairs Ali bin Rashid al Mahra al Mohannadi, Executive Director for Local Development Mohamed Ali al Ghamdi, Executive Director of Resource Development Salman Mohammed Ali al Kaldari, Executive Director of International Operations Mohammed Mubarak Salam Adsani, Executive Director of Support Abddul Zaser al Zahr, Director of Planning and International Development Ibrahim Moosa Zainal and Director of Technology Department Mohammed Abdullah al Yazidi.

The main objective of launching the system was to provide potential donors with more choice; allowing them to choose a country, browse through QC projects and choose where they wish to donate and how much.

Donations can be made in a number of ways, including donating via automated coupons, SMS, email or smart phone.

The system also links QC to 64 cooperating organisations in over 30 countries, and allows access to follow-up QC database of the organisation, enabling communication with overseas offices, national branches, increasing transparency and ease of operation.

“I would like to thank QC for its efforts in developing its modern electronic means of collection which will undoubtedly contribute to its charity work,” said Hemaidi.

“What we have inaugurated today at QC is an important step that will reflect positively on the professional performance of the Charity, its supporters and beneficiaries, and I hope that the Qatari society interacts with this new tool which will facilitate easier donation and allow donors to follow-up and see the effects of their donations,” he added.

For his part, Kuwari expressed his happiness at inaugurating this new electronic system and praised the interest of the minister and his continued support for the development of philanthropy in its various aspects.

“This new software comes within the framework of the continuous development of QC which seeks to provide the best in the field of philanthropy in order to keep up with the latest technology,” Kuwari said. “QC has made efforts to provide an internal system to link the departments of the Charity, its offices abroad and cooperating organisations and associations, as well as improving methods of collection and communication with donors,” he added.

The system was introduced by Kaldari, who made a presentation highlighting the advantages and functions of the system, explaining each of them individually.
