QA signs pact with Porter Air
PORTER Airlines, a small, shorthaul Canadian airline, said on Wednesday it has signed an interline partnership pact with Qatar Airways, Porter’s first such venture. Porter’s chief executive said it would seek more such deals. Interline flights allow customers to purchase one ticket for a trip involving multiple airlines.
Syria violence kills 78 people
AT least 78 people were killed in violence across Syria on Thursday, including 17 in Aleppo, with most of the deaths caused by heavy shelling and gunfire. Thirty-five of those killed were civilians, 25 were regime troops and 18 rebel fighters. Meanwhile, Iran hosted a 29-nation conference on Syria in Tehran to boost its role as peacebroker in the conflict. Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi called for a “national dialogue between the opposition and the Syrian government to establish calm and security”.
