Governor of Khartoum State General Abdul-Rahim Mohamed Hussein has expressed appreciation to Qatar for its role in achieving security and stability in Darfur region of Sudan.
Hussein highlighted Qatar's role in sponsoring and supporting negotiations between the Sudanese government and armed groups, which eventually led to the signing of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur.
Speaking at a conference for the National Liberation and Justice Party, Hussein said that the party itself was one of the outcomes of the Doha document.
He praised the document, stressing that it made real change in Darfur and helped achieve security and stability in the region.
Hussein said that the Sudanese state remains committed to the outcomes of the national dialogue and turning it into a practical programme implemented on the ground.
He added that the state will continue working on a permanent constitution for the country, calling on all parties and political powers to hold on to the stability and security they achieved.
