The fourth Bazm-e-Sadaf international poetry symposium and award ceremony, a congregation of the finest Urdu writers of the world was recently held at Urdu Bhavan Patna, India. Rangmanch Canada Director Jawaid Danish hosted the function and Apex Group, Dubai Chairman and Counsel General Italy S P Singh Oberoi was the chief guest.
Bazm-E-Sadaf International was established in 2015 by expatriate residents in Qatar, GCC countries and India. It is an international literary group, that publishes the Urdu journal Sehmahi Sadaf, organises lectures on various subjects and also organises poetry symposiums and mushairas attended by many noted names from around the world. The organisation provides a platform for the advance of cultural, social and literary activities of the entire South East Asian community.
Bazme-e-Sadaf International Lifetime Award Barai Urdu Tahreek 2017 was conferred upon SP Singh Oberoi, while the Bazme-e-Sadaf International Lifetime Award Barai Majmui Khidmat 2017 conferred upon Mujtaba Hussain. The Bazme-e-Sadaf International Young Writer Award 2017 was presented to Ishrat Moin Seema of Germany to recognise his contribution to the development of Urdu in his country.
The mission of Bazme-e-Sadaf International was explained by its founder and chairman Shahabuddin Ahmad."Considering the size of our population, even if one person donates the money he spends on a meal everyday for a year to Bazm-e-Sadaf International, it will be a huge amount. This will not only help establish an educational institution but a full-fledged university. Such an ambitious project calls for meticulous planning and Bazm-e-Sadaf International wishes to initiate this project. For this, it needs endorsement and assistance from individuals and organisations interested in the cause of education, training, and preservation of cultural heritage," said Ahmad.
Oberoi urged to consider education as the first priority, and requested them to support Bazm-e-Sadaf to achieve its mission.
Danish, while extending his support and cooperation to Bazm-e-Sadaf International, congratulated them on successfully organising an event of this scale.
Bazm-e-Sadaf International Director Safdar Imam Quadri explained the activities of the organisation over the last three years and requested everyone to support their mission, whereas Bazm-e-Sadaf International Doha Chapter General Secretary Ahmad Ashfaque congratulated the awardees and explained the group's activities in Doha.
After the award ceremony, an international mushaira was held where prominent scholars like Jawaid Danish from Canada, Obaidur Rahman from KSA, Alain Desoulieres from France, Mohammad Asif Ali, Shamtally and Abeenazz from Mauritus, Noor Amrovi from the USA and Ahmad Ahfaque from Qatar were present. Ajay Sahaab, Shafiul Haque, Hassan Kazmi, Prof Eijaz Ali Arshad, Mushtaque Ahmad Noori, Fakhruddin Arfi, Parvaleen, Madhu Gupta, Mohd Gauhar, Abdul Haque Naimi, Shahid Rasul, Wahid Nazeer, Naseem Amad Nassem, Zafar Imam and Sadaf Iqbal represented India.
The ceremony also launched more than 15 books published by Maktabe Sadaf.
