Qatar has never supported terrorism and it is a country that abides by law and seeks religious freedom, Qatar's Public Prosecutor HE Dr Ali bin Fetais al Marri has said.
"Qatar's interest is focused on the two issues of justice and fighting corruption," Marri said.
He was delivering a lecture on the legal implications of the events and developments in the region, at Washington's Georgetown University Law School on Tuesday.
Dr Marri said Qatar's Constitution provides equality and establishes the principles of justice, while respecting the different religious values and independence of judiciary.
He stressed that since the adoption of its Constitution, Qatar has taken firm steps towards the establishment of the rule of law, the independence of judiciary, the establishment of institutions as well as ensuring justice at all levels of litigation that provides adequate guarantees for the stability of societies and ensures all freedoms.
Dr Marri said the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani established the principle of the rule of law, and the government's focus has been on state-building, infrastructure and integration with the international community.
