The three-day Kanar Festival kicked off at Al Mazrouah Farm Yard on Thursday, with the participation of 11 Qatari farms.
A large number of people visited the yard to buy kanar of various types and sizes.
In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said this event comes as part of activities organised by the ministry to showcase the country's fresh agricultural products at Al Wakrah, Al Khor, Al Dhakhira and Al Mazrouah yards.
Inaugurating the festival, Director of Agricultural Affairs Department Eng Yousef Khalid al Khulaifi said the festival comes as part of a series of events organised by the department to encourage local producers.
Similar event of honey, flowers and animal products proved to be a big success, he added.
A specialist from the department will brief people about trees and the process of vaccination and grafting, he said.
Khulaifi said the recent events organised to showcase Qatari products were a great success and a large number of people turned up at these events to buy the products.
