Indian Sports Centre (ISC) conducted a host of sports events on National Sport Day (NSD) for different age groups.
The ISC's NSD celebration included setting-up a stall displaying Indian sports personalities and memorable sporting events in India, and a sports quiz. The quiz was followed by a yoga demonstration succeeded by a kabaddi game.
A football tournament was conducted at Al Arabi Sports Club with 16 teams competing. The team Pass Qatar won the tournament with Comtec as runner-up. A kabaddi game was also held at the club participated by eight teams. The game was won by the Hassan Co team with Tamil Sangha as the runner-up.
Five ladies teams competed in a tug-of-war. Team The Shiny Stars won the game with Pearl Qatar as runner-up. A game of ball throw was conducted for boys, girls, men and women of different age groups. A tug-of-war was also conducted for men at Asian Town with 16 teams participating.
This ISC event at Asian town, which started in 2017, has drawn a large crowd of different nationalities. The game was won by Sak Qatar with Social Forum as runner-up and Doha Warriors as 2nd runner-up.
Indian Ambassador to Qatar HE P Kumaran along with Chancery division Head KS Dhiman and Defence Attache Kapil Kaushik, handed over the prizes.
The celebration concluded with a table tennis tournament organised by Indian Sports Centre and Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) at the Qatar Table Tennis Training Centre. The tournament was open to boys and girls of any nationality within the Under 12, Under 15 and Under 19 categories, and to men and women withing the 20 to 30, 31 to 40 and above 40 categories.
The Prizes were given by HE P Kumaran, QTTA board member Thani al Zaraa and senior officials from the Indian embassy and Indian Sports Centre distributed the prizes .
