VIRGINIA Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) students engaged in a number of activities themed 'Karak Hour', to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the university in Qatar and its partnership with Qatar Foundation.
Besides the cake cutting, students took part in various fun-filled games.
The event was part of a series being held as part of VCUarts Qatar's 20th anniversary celebrations.
Speaking to media persons VCUarts Qatar Executive Dean Dr Donald N Baker said,"Today is a special occasion, for it is the 20th anniversary of VCUarts Qatar's partnership with Qatar Foundation which has been a framework within which we offer our programmes here in Qatar."
He added that every Wednesday they have a programme called 'Karak' whereby they serve 'Arabia' tea and coffee to the guests.
"The weekly 'Karak' includes largely students' services and student-driven operations. The student organisations work with us to offer these programmes," he said.
Baker added,"We are also going to have a big banquet at the end of the year where the invitees will be our sponsors, some of the alumni, faculty and staff, among others. We are also producing history f1'ca which is a large infographic of VCUarts Qatarf0's 20 years in Qatar."
According to him, VCUarts Qatar supports Qatar National Vision 2030.
"VCUarts Qatar has been unique and has helped through arts in this region. Qatar has committed itself to developing museums and art galleries. We are part of that vision and we are helping in our own way to bring that about," he said.
