The inauguration of the Qatar-Bulgarian Economic Forum demonstrates the two countries' interest in boosting their economic ties, Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al Thani said in Sofia on Thursday.
The forum, he said, would remove all the impediments and facilitate mutual investments in the two countries.
"The forum would deepen our bilateral relations in all areas of economic and trade cooperation," he said.
It provides a brilliant opportunity to discuss ways to increase the Qatar-Bulgaria trade volume, which reached $22.3 million last year, he said.
Qatar and Bulgaria maintain robust and distinct relations after establishing diplomatic relations 30 years ago and they have signed 30 MoUs in different fields.
Seven Qatari-Bulgarian companies and three companies with 100-percent Bulgarian capital are currently operational in Qatar.
"We hope to see more Bulgarian companies in Qatar, especially since Qatar provides several incentives for foreign investors in economic, logistic and free zones. We are looking forward to having more alliances and partnerships between Qatari and Bulgarian companies for the benefit of the two economies," Sheikh Khalifa said.
