QATAR Foundation for Social Work (QFSW) on Wednesday held an interactive meeting titled 'Support my community as a pioneer of empowerment', with the participation of speakers from the brotherly State of Kuwait and prominent women personalities from Qatar to mark International Women's Day.
The speakers addressed a number of issues of particular interest to Arab and Gulf women, including the etiquette of dealing with the self, psychological fitness, as well as the constitution of beauty as well as the 'influence with heart intentions'.
QFSW Chief Executive Officer Amal Abdulatif al Mannai said that the foundation is keen to empower women by raising awareness of their issues, providing them with the means to protect them and strengthening their capabilities to assume their increasing responsibilities.
The Qatar Foundation for Social Action strives to achieve the aspirations of Qatari women at local, regional and international levels through activating contributions and partnerships with various international women's organisations and institutions, Mannai said.
QFSW Chief Executive Officer added that the celebration of International Women's Day through the centres of the foundation, which work in various areas of social work, Qatar affirms the value and prestige of women in Qatar, which enjoy considerable support in various fields and at all levels.
Mannai noted that the International Women's Day comes in the wake of an unprecedented global movement to uphold women's rights, equality and justice.
The International Women's Day, which comes this year under the slogan 'It is time: rural and urban activists change women's lives', is a global celebration held annually on March 8.
