THE Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) will screen Khoyout Al Sard (Threads of Story), a film based on the story of 12 Palestinian women who were obsessed with Palestinian heritage and costumes before the catastrophe and displacement in 1948, at the Drama Theatre at 7pm on Friday.
The screening is part of the Palestinian Embroidery Week which was inaugurated by Katara's General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti along with Palestinian Ambassador to Qatar HE Munir Ghannam and several other diplomats recently.
The exhibition titled 'Thahab Al Sabeqin' by Palestinian artist Zuhaira Zaqtan took place at Katara hall, as well as the Traditional Palestinian Costumes Exhibition, in cooperation with Al Hanoona Cultural Association.
Nemat Saleh from Al Hanoona Association said that the Traditional Palestinian Costumes Exhibition"sheds light on the richness of Palestinian embroidery, and is an attempt to preserve this tradition."
Palestinian artist Zuhaira Zaqtan said that they aim, through this exhibition, to convey a message and draw people's attention to Palestine's pristine and unforgotten cultural heritage despite the attempts by the Israeli occupation to efface it.
The exhibition is organised by al Rozana Group in collaboration with Katara. Members of the Rozana Group highlighted the importance of such activities to raise awareness of people from different countries about the Palestinian heritage and cause.
At the end of the exhibition, a workshop will be held on Saturday (March 10), at the Katara Art Studios, from 12pm to 4pm to teach the basics of Palestinian embroidery and stitching techniques.
