THE Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) on Wednesday organised the sixth anniversary of its ongoing National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) at Qatar National Convention Center with the slogan 'Qatar is pulsing' under the patronage of the Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani.
The glittering event was graced by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani, Minister of Energy and Industry HE Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al Sada, Kahramaa's president Engineer Essa bin Hilal al Kuwari, ministers, dignitaries, diplomats, high level officials from government and private sectors, schoolchildren, stakeholders' representatives and others.
During the celebration, a film about the first phase (2012-2017) of the National Program for the Conservation and Energy Efficiency was screened, highlighting its overall achievements, challenges and future plans in the second phase until 2022 as per Qatar National Development Strategy (2018-2022).
Kahramaa also felicitated winners (individual and corporate) who had been selected under various categories against the entries received for four competitions organised by the Conservation and Energy Efficiency department.
Jaber al Merri, managing editor of Al-Arab newspaper, was felicitated as best communication engagement with Tarsheed for supporting Tarsheed initiatives on social media platforms.
Kahramaa also honoured AAMAL company, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Alfardan group and Siemens Qatar for their support of Tarsheed initiatives.
Students of Qatar Technical High School for Boys, Lebib Primary School for Girls, Um Aymen High School for Girls and Al-Wakrah High School for Girls were also honoured for their solar energy projects under the Tarsheed supervision.
The ceremony also witnessed honouring of Ministry of Transport and Communications as Best Government Entity Cooperating With Tarsheed 2017.
