With a view to serve high-end consumers living in the West Bay area round the clock, Seven Days Hypermarket opened on the premises of Qatar Sports Club on Thursday.
Owned by Doha-based Florenza Group, the hypermarket will offer branded food products and groceries mainly imported from European countries.
First of its kind in the West Bay area, Seven Days Hypermarket also houses Starbucks Coffee, BakeMart Plus, Floranza outlets to cater to the customers.
Seven Days Managing Director Asgar Ali Cherukuniyil told Qatar Tribune that millions of Qatari riyals have been invested in the project to offer high-quality products to a large number of European expatriates living in the vicinity and to the visitors to the posh Qatar Sports Club.
"There has been a long -standing demand from the public for a hypermarket on the commercial premises of Qatar Sports Club. By keeping the hypermarket open 24 hours, we aim to provide uninterrupted services to our customers," Cherukuniyil said.
Inaugurated by Qatar Sports Club President Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Nasser al Thani, the hypermarket has been receiving huge response from customers from day one.
"We received a large number of customers both Qatari nationals and the residents on the opening day itself. The number of visitors on Friday was very high. The overall initial response is more than what we expected," the managing director said.
Given the interest of consumers in the area, Cherukuniyil said, most of the products available at the hypermarket are sourced from European countries.
"While we have lots of branded food items from England, most of the vegetables and fruits are imported from Spain," he said, adding the hypermarket also has a special section for fruits and vegetables produced in Qatar.
Cherukuniyil said that special care has been taken to make most of the products available at competitive prices compared with other retail brands that deal in European products.
Cherukuniyil also revealed that Florenza Group was in the process of opening three more Seven Days hypermarkets in Qatar in the next two years.
"Currently we are in the process of finalising the locations. Work on the upcoming hypermarkets will start as soon as the choice of locations are final," he said.
