There has been at least a 50 percent jump in the exports of food products from India to Qatar after the Saudi-led siege, Indian Ambassador to Qatar HE P Kumaran has said.
"Although the final figures are yet to come, we have witnessed an increase of at least 50 percent in the exports of food products from India to Qatar after the blockade," Kumaran said on the sidelines of the Vibrant Tamil Nadu Roadshow' held in Doha recently.
Introduction of two direct shipping lines from Qatar to India last year has played a vital role in increasing the trade volume between the two countries.
"A lot of Indian food companies, especially from Tamil Nadu, have entered the Qatari market. There is still a lot of scope for Indian companies in Qatar's growing food market," the envoy said.
