Asian countries have become new market for recycled paper products manufactured by Elite Paper Recycling (EPR) company the first paper recycling firm in Qatar.
The ongoing blockade imposed on Qatar by some of its neighbours had interrupted the supply chain of raw materials from Saudi Arabia resulting in reduced production. The company countered this challenge of raw material through an innovative step - waste paper and cardboard boxes collection services.
This move not only helped different business entities to dispose of their paper waste but also create an awareness about environment by collecting paper waste through paper recycling 'cages' spread across the country.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, a senior official of EPR said,"Currently, we are recycling around 100 tonnes of waste paper and cardboard boxes every day at our factory in the Industrial Area. We are offering an excellent solution for waste paper disposal to a large number of businesses to remove waste paper from their premises. The multiple products manufactured from the recycled material also support Qatar's initiative to protect the environment."
The blockade notwithstanding, EPR has even found new destinations in Asia to sell its products.
"Now, India is the key market for our products. Currently, EPR produces craft paper and egg trays. We have also a stable marketing network in Qatar which caters to the local demands of craft paper and egg trays," the official added.
Describing the plans to increase production, the official said that creating and promoting awareness about the environment is one of the major responsibilities of the firm.
As a move in this direction, EPR offers a company tour for business establishments, organisations, schools as well as general public entities.
