The Doha Corniche Development project implemented along a distance of 9 km from Dafna area to Ras Abu Aboud Bridge has been completed, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced on Tuesday.
The project included the renovation of public yards, parking lots, toilets, pedestrian walkways between the parking lots and the main walkway of Doha Corniche and 2006 Asian games Oryx Mascot.
The project was completed within seven months and opened for public before the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The project also included renovation of all parking slots in Doha Corniche by replacing old interlock with a more solid asphalt layer enabling ease of maintenance in the future.
Engineer Noora al Mansouri of the Building Design Department at Ashghal said the design for this project was selected and approved from among multiple designs presented by a team of new engineers.
Doha Corniche serves as an open space for the public with a distinctive waterfront park that stretches around Doha Bay on an area of 120,000 square metres.
The interlock tiles used for the flooring were locally manufactured and the project was implemented as part of Ashghal's Corporate Social Responsibility. The opening ceremony was attended by Central Municipal Council Members Jassem Abdulla al Maliki, Shaikha al Jufairi, Director of Technical Affairs Department in Doha Municipality Abdulla Ibrahim al Sada, Doha Corniche Development Project Engineer Jaralla Mohammed al Marri along with a number of Ashghal staff and project engineers.
