The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani has accepted an invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to attend the Islamic (OIC) summit on Friday in Istanbul to discuss the latest developments in Palestine.
This came after the Amir and Erdogan held a telephonic conversation on Wednesday.
At the outset of the call, the Amir and the Turkish president exchanged greetings on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
Erdogan invited the Amir to attend the Islamic summit in Istanbul, to discuss the latest developments in Palestine amidst the violent massacres carried out by the Israeli forces against the innocent Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Erdogan has also spoken to several world leaders about the ongoing tensions between Israel and the Palestinians, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
Erdogan later spoke to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Iran's Hassan Rouhani and Russia's Vladimir Putin, as well as the leaders of Indonesia and Sudan.
"It is shameful that the Palestinians were brutally attacked before the eyes of the entire world," Erdogan told Putin.
Erdogan said the majority of the international community had failed to react to the events in Gaza.
"In the face of all these events, the United Nations has ended. (It has) become exhausted and collapsed," Erdogan added.
