THE Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), one of the world's leading and fastest-growing onshore business and financial centres, announced several initiatives to mark the Holy Month of Ramadan, under the theme 'Road to Humanity'.
This Ramadan, QFC is planning a series of initiatives throughout the month and beyond as part of the CSR and Social Investment strategy 'United for Good' which focuses on two main pillars, youth and education and community development.
To start off, QFC will host a series of workshops through the 'One Family' initiative. Volunteers from the QFC will help instil the family feeling through sharing their talents and working with members of the Qatar community to create a greater sense of unity. The workshops will include a comics and drawing class for Dreama children, reading stories for the elderly at the Ehsan Elderly Centre, among other activities.
To further support children in need, during Eid Al Fitr, the QFC will also sponsor orphans on behalf of various organisations in Qatar as a way to encourage them to 'pay it forward' by continuing to have a positive effect on society. Recipients will get the chance to continue sponsoring the child indefinitely and will be able to follow the child's progress with monthly updates provided by Qatar Charity.
Finally, QFC will continue the spirit of giving fostered throughout Ramadan with 'Hand in Hand', the first charity treasure hunt in Qatar for families, who will work in teams to find Ramadan gifts hidden throughout a maze at Aspire Zone. All ticket proceeds will go toward purchasing school supplies and gifts for children of the Qatar Orphan Foundation 'Dreama'.
Participants will also have the opportunity to leave their handprint on a communal white board, emphasising the endless possibilities that come from working hand in hand. 'Hand in Hand' is a partnership between the Qatar Financial Centre, Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre, Qatar Finance and Business Academy, Aspire Zone, Adventure Rooms, Build-a-Bear Workshop and Virgin Megastores.
Sarah al Dorani, Acting Chief Marketing and Corporate Communications Officer, QFC Authority, said:"Ramadan is a time for self-reflection, which naturally leads us to want to help others. The QFC's Ramadan initiatives emphasise that we all stand together as one family and one community in Qatar, a spirit that helps us as individuals and as a society."
The QFC's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Social Investment strategy underscores its commitment to its ethical, social and environmental responsibilities. One of the CSR's main pillars at QFC is community development that entails focusing on the inclusion of all members of society. QFC's CSR and social investment strategy also focuses on youth and education to help build a new generation of leaders.
