With the Muslims on fast during the day time in the holy month, the Ramadan night markets have come as a big relief to them as they are able to get all their essential goods and groceries at night.
Families, who find it difficult to go for shopping due to work hours and difficulties of fasting during the day, make their way to these markets to buy their daily stuff.
Ramadan night markets such as the Meerat Ramadan at the south beach of Katara and the"Furjan" neighbourhoods markets that operate from 8pm onwards are well-stocked with varieties of goods and groceries.
Many people expressed their happiness at getting their stuff at these markets during the night time.
Mohammed al Marri, who was shopping at the Meerat Ramadan market, said he was very satisfied with the kind of foods and groceries available at the market, especially the fresh local products.
Many local companies and farms have become a kind of partners in these markets supplying plenty of dairy products and fresh vegetables.
Officials at the Meerat Ramadan market said local products comprise almost half of the display, mainly vegetables, dairy and meat products.
"Prices are even cheaper than outside, lamb is for half the price by Widham and premium vegetables are for very competitive prices too," Karima, a housewife, said.
Officials at the market assured that this initiative is helping consumers and local producers alike.
They said people have more time for shopping at the market and local goods are available in plenty.
Another visitor to the market, Nasser al Fayyad, said he prefers shopping in this kind of seasonal markets than to visit malls.
