THE General Directorate of Traffic distributed around 1,000 gift bags to motorists to thank them for their cooperation during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Several high ranking officers including among others Brigadier Mohammed Maarifiya, head of Engineering Department at the General Directorate of Traffic and Colonel Mohammed Radi al Hajri, head of Traffic Awareness Department took part in the initiative.
Major Jaber al Odeiba said that the purpose behind the initiative is to show gratitude to the motorists in Qatar for their compliance with the traffic rules and regulations.
"This Ramadan was very special in that the accident rate was much lower than before. That's why we decided to express our gratitude to people by ourselves," he said.
He added that the gift bag contained essential equipment for drivers and things they need inside their vehicles.
He further pointed out that the traffic patrolling will be intensified during Eid Al Fitr festivals to check accidents.
He also said that the department has decided special gifts for children during Eid celebrations this year.
"Each Eid festival, we have something new to offer to children and this year we have decided to distribute gift envelopes with some money inside them. So, if you see any traffic patrol during Eid, don't hesitate to approach with your children," he remarked.
The Traffic Department wishes a safe and happy Eid holidays for everyone and advises them to comply with the traffic norms to have an enjoyable and safe celebrations.
