Primary school classes to finish at 12:30 PM; only 4 subjects in a day

DOHA Primary schools will be closed at 12.30 PM and students will be taught only four subjects instead of six in day in the new academic year, a top Ministry of Education and Higher Education official has said.
Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Fawzia al Khater said students in the preparatory and secondary levels will have the same end-of-the-week schedule, except on Wednesdays and Thursdays when the classes will close at 12:30 PM. Khater said the curriculum will be distributed differently during the next academic year. While 40 percent of the curriculum will be covered during the first semester, 60 percent will be completed during the second semester after taking into account the holy month of Ramadan and Eid holidays. She said specialised companies were selected to print, prepare and publish textbooks before the beginning of the school year.
