Istanbul and London are the most sought after holiday destinations for the people of Qatar this summer, according to tour and travel operators.
Doha-based Regency Travel Agency said they are receiving hundreds of customers buying tour packages to spend summer holidays abroad.
"Since the Eid holidays, we have received a number of booking orders for places like Istanbul, London and Sarajevo," a travel advisor at Regency Travel Agency said.
Many people have also booked holiday packages for Azerbaijan and Georgia.
A normal package for Georgia is QR3,500 per person.
"A normal package to Turkey would cost around QR3,000 per person, while it costs around QR6,500 per person for London. The package includes airfare and hotel stays," he added.
Oman and Kuwait have also emerged as vital destinations for short breaks and weekend getaways.
"People seeking a short escape are now booking tour packages for Oman and Kuwait, thanks to the launch of additional local airlines such as the Oman-based Al Salam airlines," said the travel advisor.
There are several daily direct flights to Muscat and Salalah and it has made it easier for people to spend a short break.
After the blockade was imposed on Qatar in June last year, Qatar Airways has found several alternative routes for its destinations although it takes longer for some countries such as Sudan.
