THE area of the maternity ward at the Women's Wellness and Research Center (WWRC) has increased five times compared to the one at the old Women's Emergency department, Senior Consultant for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the centre Dr Muayed Ahmed Younis has said.
According to Dr Younis, the maternity ward boasts of the best global standards with latest equipment and a room for each patient, whether citizen or an expatriate, both before and after delivery.
He added that the facilities at the centre confirm the State of Qatar's ongoing efforts to provide the best medical care for patients.
Compared to the old emergency department building, the WWRC at Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City is far more spacious and has much more facilities, he pointed out.
"For example, the WWRC is spread over an area of 950 square metres against 200 square metres of the old emergency department building and consists of 30 rooms, including among others, five rooms for quick procedures, three emergency delivery rooms, two isolation rooms and a prenatal assessment room with eight beds. The old emergency department building only had three examination rooms, two emergency delivery rooms, five prenatal beds and one quick procedure room," he added.
The centre also has a separate ultrasound section, a pharmacy that operates 24 hours, and reception halls for men and women providing all services.
