THE Doha chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) hosted a seminar on 'Managing at Challenging Times' at The Westin, Doha, on the occasion of Chartered Accountants' Day recently.
Around 150 finance professionals in senior positions and stakeholders in various businesses and organisations across Qatar attended the event.
Speaker Jaafar Ali Jaffar al Sarraf commenced his presentation by explaining how successful people have turned challenges into opportunities.
In an interactive presentation supported by real life examples, he explained to the audience how business challenges could be met through market penetration, product development, market development and a diversification strategy. He emphasised that people and customers are the two important aspects that give competitive edge to any enterprise.
Being a leadership facilitator Jaafar demonstrated to the finance professionals the ways to mitigate the internal and external challenges, especially the present political challenges faced by the country.
CA Rupalakshmi Setty, chairperson of the chapter, greeted the members on the occasion of CA Day. She presented an outline of the events organised by the chapter till date.
She also announced that Doha will now be an examination centre for ICAI which will conduct foundation, IPCC and final examinations with effect from November, 2018.
ICAI, Doha, also released its half yearly e-magazine on the occasion of CA Day, which also marks 70th platinum jubilee of ICAI.
Setty took the opportunity to launch the theme of the fifth annual international conference to be held on October 25 and 26, 2018, which is 'Sustainability & Growth in the Digital Era'. The event will have business leaders and other professional speakers deliberate on the theme from across the globe.
Dr R Seetharaman was the special guest at the event and was welcomed by vice chairperson CA Rukkaiya Pachisa. Addressing the members, Dr Seetharaman spoke on disruptive challenges and ways to mitigate them.
