THE Hijric month of Shawwal 1439 AH will end on Friday, July 13, 2018, while the first day of Hijric month of Dhul-Quada 1439 AH will be Saturday, July 14, 2018, according to accurate astronomical calculations by Qatar Calendar House (QCH).
The new crescent of Hijric month of Dhul-Quada 1439 AH will borne on Friday, July 13, 2018, at 5:49am Doha local time (2:49 am Universal Time), according to the astronomical calculations.
Dr Beshir Marzouk, astronomy expert at QCH, said:"The age of new crescent at sunset time over Doha sky on Friday, July 13, will be 12 hours and 38 minutes. The moon set time over Doha sky will be at 6:50pm Doha local time, while the sunset time will be at 6:27pm Doha local time.
"This means that moon will set 23 minutes after sunset time over Doha sky, while the moon set time in Makkah, Medina and other Gulf countries will be between 21 and 25 minutes after sunset time.
It will be possible to observe the new crescent over Qatar sky and most of Arab and Islamic countries with astronomical telescopes and from places without light and environment pollutions on Friday evening, Dr Marzouk added.
The Hijric calendar depends on moon's motion on its orbit around the earth, while the Gregorian calendar depends on earth's motion on its orbit around the sun. (TNN)
