Qatar will benefit from the Russian experience in providing the best-ever FIFA World Cup in 2022, according to an official.
Major General Ali al Ali, Assistant Executive Director for Security Affairs at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), has confirmed reaching final stages of the security programmes with the Russian side in securing the 2018 World Cup, which included shadow monitoring, field observation and fieldwork.
"We have sent about 70 officers who have been deployed to several cities. The focus has been on the major events. The teams have worked in stadiums, on the streets and in places where the masses have gathered," Ali said.
"Four officers participated with the Spanish, Russian and English police in providing security to fans during matches," he added.
"We look forward to benefiting from the Russian experience and applying it in Qatar to secure the 2022 World Cup. We hope that the World Cup will be a starting point for other countries to follow us and to take advantage of our experience in the future," he noted.
Ali said one of the most important things observed in the security of the World Cup in Russia is the management of crowd."They have been very special in the management of crowd."
Ali praised the great benefits to be derived from this cooperation, most notably the implementation of the FIFA best standards, especially that the application of"FIFA Handbook" in coordination with the Russian side, to enhance security and safety.
