With the curtain coming down on the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup, the world's eye has now turned to Qatar ” the host of the next FIFA World Cup in 2022. In four years' time when the World Cup comes home, there's only one certainty the tournament will be like no other, just expect an amazing spectacle.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the pride of the Arab world as Qatar will become the first Gulf, Arab and Middle Eastern country to host the mega event. Today, the dream has become a reality and it is the right of all Arabs to take pride in this great achievement.
With Russia handing over the mantle of 2022 FIFA World Cup host to Qatar, the countdown for the mega event that all Arabs eagerly awaiting has just begun!
Eight years ago, when Qatar was declared the host of the 2022 World Cup, thanks to efforts of its young people and the wisdom of its leadership, preparations for organising the mega event kicked off in right earnest. Qatar's winning the hosting rights will remain entrenched in the minds of all Arabs.
After Morocco failed to win the rights for the 2003 World Cup and Egypt for the 2006 and 2010, Qatar decided that it should work hard to bring the World Cup to the Arab world. It beat all odds ” a small country and hot climate to bring laurels for the Arab world.
Over the past few years, Doha has been sending messages to all countries, especially football lovers, saying it will host an extraordinary tournament. The sporting facilities being built for the world cup are simply amazing. The stadiums being constructed are a unique blend of modernity and local heritage. The designs for stadiums, hotels and roads mix the charm of the East with the modernity of the West.
For fans and visitors of the World Cup, it will be an amazing experience. The stadiums are simply awesome. Lusail Stadium, which will host the opening and the final matches of the World Cup, can accommodate 86,000 spectators.

However, surprisingly a vicious campaign was launched against Qatar to strip it off the hosting rights. Some of its neighbours imposed an unjust blockade on it. Doha responded to these veiled and vicious campaigns through work and diligence.
During the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Zurich Sports Academy, FIFA President Gianni Infantino had said these campaigns are nothing more than"smoke in the air, accusations that could not be confirmed, and there was no evidence to support them on the ground".
Qatar's confidence in the integrity and strength of its position to host the 2022 World Cup was embodied by a few words included in FIFA's comment on the statement of the Ethics Committee:"On this basis, FIFA is looking forward to further preparations for the finals of Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022, implementation."
The instigators are busy drafting false accusations, while Qataris are marching ahead with their plans to host the best-ever World Cup.
