AS the excitement to watch the final World Cup match between France and Croatia ran high in Qatar on Sunday, many companies and offices in Doha rescheduled their working hours to enable their workers to witness the much-awaited match.
An employee of an engineering firm in Industrial Area said,"Our company has allowed us two hours' break from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm to watch the World Cup finals. We have also been provided with separate television sets in the recreation area for the purpose."
A few other firms granted half-day paid off to the employees.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, general manager of a construction firm that has more than 600 employees said,"We have made all necessary arrangements for our workers to watch the World Cup finals in the recreation area of our office and also at worksites."
Industries having more than one shift rescheduled their working hours to allow workers to watch the finals without affecting their routine production.
Director of Fal Tour and Travels AP Manikantan said,"All of us have been eagerly waiting for this match. The countdown for World Cup 2022 to be held in Qatar has also begun today. So, we have allowed our employees to watch the finals without affecting our operations."
Meanwhile, shops, restaurants and socio-cultural organisations arranged special screening of World Cup finals for the general public.
