The Advisory (Shura) Council at a meeting on Monday discussed the report of the Internal and External Affairs Committee on the request for general discussion submitted by a number of members on the challenges facing the children of divorced Qatari mothers and widows of fathers from the siege States.
The Council also discussed the report of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee on a draft law establishing the Workers' Support and Insurance Fund.
At the meeting chaired by Speaker HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al Mahmoud, the Council also discussed the report of the Services and Public Utilities Committee on the request for a general discussion submitted by a number of members on the phenomenon of increase in shops rental.
After extensive discussions of the reports, the Council decided to approve them and to submit its recommendations to the Cabinet.
Advisory Council Secretary-General Fahad bin Mubarak al Khayareen later read out the Amiri Decree No 39 for 2018 adjourning the 46th ordinary session of the Advisory Council.
At the end of the meeting, the Shura Speaker delivered a speech on the occasion of the adjournment of the current session, thanking, on his and on behalf of the members of the Council, the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani for his support to the Council in order to achieve its mission and to play its role in serving the citizens and defending Qatar's causes.
He also praised the efforts of the government and its cooperation with the Advisory Council, which had a positive impact on the Council's achievements in the area of legislation in all fields and in issuing many recommendations of interest to Qatar and its people.
Mahmoud expressed his satisfaction with the positive results achieved by the Council in parliamentary diplomacy at regional and international levels, which had impacts on informing parliaments of friendly countries as well as the European Parliament about the position of Qatar on the siege.
He pointed out that all the draft laws and decrees submitted to the Council had been completed and submitted to the government.
He thanked the members of the Council for their efforts, whether in the plenary sessions of the Council or through its specialised committees, and for their seriousness, responsibility and keenness in their discussions, during which they enriched the Council's sessions with thoughts, ideas and constructive proposals.
Mahmoud also thanked the General Secretariat and all the staff of the Advisory Council.
