QATARI citizens have expressed their pride and honour on Qatar receiving the mantle of FIFA World Cup 2022 host and have praised the efforts of the government and the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani to bring the mega sporting event to the country and the region.
Talking to Qatar Tribune, the eminent citizens also exuded confidence that Qatar will host the event successfully delivering a historic World Cup as preparations for the event are in full swing.
Vice Chairman of Advisory (Shura) Council Essa bin Rabia al Kuwari praised HH the Amir's statements in Moscow saying that it proved HH's wise vision to earn international acclaim for Qatar and the entire Middle East region.
He expressed his gratitude to HH the Amir and the Father Amir HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani for making consistent efforts to create a solid ground to host this event with the support of the whole world and maintaining a stable pace in putting in place the necessary world-class infrastructure needed for that.
According to Kuwari, it is a moment of glory for Qatar and the entire Arab world.
For his part, lawyer Falah al Mutairy described the receiving of the FIFA World Cup host's mantle as a historic occasion that called for celebration across the Arab world."HH the Amir's statement describing World Cup 2022 as a tournament for all Arabs proves his high values and morals as HH the Amir didn't limit this achievement to Qatar only," Mutairy said.
"Despite the many attempts of the blockading countries to prevent Qatar from hosting the World Cup 2022, the whole world recognises Qatar's achievements in all fields of human development and in maintaining human rights laws," he explained.
Hamad Lahdan al Muhannadi, vice chairman of the Central Municipal Council, said that most of the projects related to the World Cup 2022 have already been accomplished.
"We have been working on World Cup 2022 projects for more than eight years now and the formal receiving of the host's mantle only motivates us to speed up the work to finish the remaining projects well ahead of the scheduled time," Muhannadi added.
He mentioned the opening of one of the stadiums and scheduled opening of two more stadiums this year."All the World Cup related projects will be completed in 2019-2020 and we will have enough time for creativity," he remarked.
"As HH the Amir said that it is for all Arabs, we will give chance to all Arab youths to take part in organising the event, give ideas and volunteer during the event," Muhannadi pointed out.
He praised the efforts of HH the Father Amir and HH the Amir to bring Qatar this far on the world map, adding that it would be delightful to see all the nations of the world competing in Qatari stadiums at Al Wakra, Lusail and others.
Qatari inventor, writer and thinker Dr Mohammed al Jufeiri said,"Qatar has enough facilities and infrastructure to host mega sport events today. Qataris are far more aware today than they were some years ago. Qatar has placed itself strongly on the global map though its institutions and contributions internationally."
"I was so proud when I received congratulatory messages on Qatar receiving the FIFA World Cup 2022 host's mantle. It's a moment of glory for all of us," Jufeiri remarked.
Jufeiri added,"The World Cup 2022 is also an opportunity for us to introduce the world to 'real Islam' and the Islamic civilisation and send a message of peace."
He explained that he and other Qatari influencers are preparing themselves for this mega event to introduce the Arab and Qatari heritage, which is about living in harmony with people of diverse nationalities and cultures.
