IRANIAN President Hassan Rouhani will sack some of his ministers because of an acute economic crisis, Rowhani's chief of staff Mahmoud Waesi said on Wednesday.
"Changes will be made soon, especially in the government's economic team,"Waesi said, according to the news agency IRNA.
Observers expect the dismissal of the ministers for economics, trade, and industry as well as the central bank chief.
Over the weekend, the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, summoned Rowhani and his cabinet to an emergency meeting.
Speculation had been rife that he would call on moderate Rowhani to resign after nationwide criticism of the president.
However Khamenei, who according to the constitution has the last word in all strategic matters, reportedly demanded only one change to the cabinet.
