Doha More than 58,000 housing units and 650 high-rises will come up in Qatar by 2022, according to an Al Asmakh report that sees a rapid growth in the real estate sector as the country prepares to host the next FIFA World Cup in four years.
A large number of these projects are already in the construction phase and will be complete within this year, the report said.
"The local real estate market is very dynamic and effective," it said, linking a significant part of the causal economic boom to Qatar's efforts to diversify away from the oil.
The report said the growth of the real estate and construction sectors would be in line with the prosperity of the Qatari economy, which is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
