THE Cultural Foundation Katara, represented by its General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti, participated in the Arab Media and Sustainable Tourism Conference held at Salalah in Oman recently.
Sulaiti was the guest of honour at the event organised by the Arab Center for Tourism Information on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.
A number of tourism experts, academics and Arab media representatives took part in the conference.
Dr Sulaiti also presented a research paper on 'Managing tourism crisis in the wake of economic and political changes' during the second session of the conference. In his presentation, he stressed on the vital role that media can play in tackling the crisis in tourism industry.
He added that tourism can play a big role in supporting and reviving Arab economy, which is currently at the crossroads.
On the sidelines of the conference, Dr Sulaiti, presented a commemorative shield to Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al Rawas, cultural advisor to Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
The conference also witnessed the honouring of the winners of the 2019 Arab Tourist Media Awards.
Dr Sulaiti was awarded the first official government award in recognition of his support to Arab tourism in 2017, by leading one of the most important cultural and tourism institutions in the Arab world.
