NEPAL'S Ambassador to Qatar HE Ramesh Prasad Koirala has praised officials from Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) for explaining the benefits of using self-service machines installed by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) at various places in Qatar.
In a recent meeting with Koirala, MADLSA officials explained about the various services that can be availed by the large number of Nepalese workers through the self-service machines.
The MoI's self-service machine aims at streamlining paperwork, eliminating unnecessary bureaucracy, and making it easier for both citizens and residents to avail a wide range of services.
Starting from checking personal information like the expiry date of one's ID card, passport, residence permit or driving licence to renewing the residence permits of sponsored workers or family members who are under personal sponsorship, a number of other procedures can be completed through the self-service machine.
Koirala told Qatar Tribune that Nepali expatriates, especially labourers can benefit a lot from such machines if it is installed in areas where blue collar workers live.
"It will be a lot more convenient for workers if such a machine is installed near Nepal's Embassy in Qatar," he said.
Praising the Qatari government for taking various steps to ensure that rights of migrant workers are protected in the country, Koirala said that he would ask Embassy officials to help Nepali workers in using such machines.
