The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has categorically rubbished the recent rumours that the State of Qatar has sent a letter to the Israeli prime minister's office.
"We are surprised by the enthusiasm that some circles have shown after what the Israeli media has reported. We are also appalled by their unbridled imagination about the unfounded news, which is consistent with their attempts to tarnish the image of the State of Qatar and nullify its relentless efforts in support of the Palestinian people and their struggle for the restoration of their legitimate rights," said a statement from the ministry on Saturday.
"It is well known that Qatar has been playing the role of a mediator in lifting the injustice imposed on the Palestinian people besieged in the Gaza Strip for years," the statement said."It is also known that this mediation requires holding meetings with all parties, but distorting the facts to undermine the noble efforts aimed at saving the Palestinian blood and acceptance of the right of Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims in Al-Quds Al-Sharif deserves to be denounced."
"Also, as part of the efforts to distort the facts, a picture of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani with one of the American personalities working in the business sector in the US is being circulated in the media. This is a systematic campaign of distortion that tries to keep the focus on the religion of the man in an effort to link the meeting with Israel and the renunciation of the Palestinian and Islamic right in Jerusalem," the statement pointed out.
"The State of Qatar, which has been hosting interfaith dialogue conferences for years, has no enmity with religion or race, which is the tolerance we have inspired by the true Islam. But, the main problem lies in the Israeli occupation and its practices towards the brotherly Palestinian people," added the statement.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affaires Lulwa al Khater, in a tweet, reiterated that no message has been sent to the Israeli PM."Qatar's mediation is not a secret and its aim is to lift the injustice facing the Palestinian people. The image of the Foreign Minister of Qatar is with an American personality and it has nothing to do with the religion of the person's or with the condemnation of the Israeli occupation and its criminal practices. There is no compromise on the status of Jerusalem and the right of refugees," she added. (QNA)
