SIDRA Medicine launched the 2nd Annual Conference on Understanding Molecular Mechanisms in Cardiovascular Biology, Diabetes, Obesity and Stroke (CUDOS 2018) at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha on Saturday.
The opening was attended by Director of Public Health Department in the Ministry of Public Heath HE Dr Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad al Thani.
The conference features keynote lectures, plenary sessions, experts' opinions, roundtable discussions, posters presentations, award winners and social interactions among the diverse attendees within 14 scientific sessions distributed over three days.
Following the success of CUDOS 2017, this year's conference is themed 'Childhood Diabetes: From Novel Discoveries to Clinical Practice' and aims to bring together award-winning leaders in diabetes research to discuss current issues and innovations in diabetes technologies as well as treatment strategies, according to Dr Ammira-Sarah Akil, chairperson and organiser of the CUDOS conference series.
Dr Akil added:"At the end of the conference, participants will be able to understand, identify and discuss the research priorities for childhood diabetes in Qatar which represents an objective that came in alignment with the National Health Strategy 2017-2022."
CUDOS chairperson noted that this year's meet has brought together diabetes specialists from around the globe and high-calibre Qatari researchers and clinicians to explore the challenges for one of the world's most prevalent disorders.
At the end of her speech, Dr Akil thanked the sponsors of the conference and partners of Sidra Medicine, including Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar National Research Fund, Qatar National Bank and Ooredoo for their valuable contributions.
