Talented Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon secured the Asian 6Reds title as the Thai player tamed Pakistan's Mohammad Bilal 7-3 in the final here on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Tirapongpaiboon, the former IBSF World Under-21 champion, trailed 2-3 at a stage before hitting back with vengeance and emerging the champion with 2-36, 38-4, 50-4, 45-38, 43-36, 45-0, 43-10, 36-20, 43-33, 40-31 scoreline.
Tirapongpaiboon, the youngest player to pull off an official maximum break at 16 years and 312 days against Barry Hawkins during the 2010 2010 Rhein Main Masters, collected two good breaks of over 40 during the match.
Potting effortlessly and precision, he first notched up 43 during the third frame that he won 50-10. His second one came at the right time when he fell 2-3 behind. He started the sixth frame and clinched it at 45-0.
After that the Pakistani player attempted to fight, especially in the sixth frame. But then it was a little too late and Tirapongpaiboon stayed clear of any trouble, putting finishing touches to his victory.
Earlier, Tirapongpaiboon outclassed Pakistan's former World Team champion Babar Masih 6-1 to grab a spot in the final. Bilal had to stretch himself a bit too much against the 2011 IBSF World Under-21 champion Cheung Ka Wai of Hong Kong before wresting a 6-4 triumph in other semi-final.
Starting the match with a flourish, the Thai player notched up a brilliant 52 break of followed it up with a 63 in the third to go 3-0 up. Masih responded with a 60-point sequence to cut down the deficit 1-3.
Off his turn, Tiripongpaiboon reeled off the next three frames after another impressive 52-point break to seal the victory.
In other match, it was a dong-dong affair between Bilal and Wai till 4-4 with the latter coming up with a fine 71. Another feature of the clash was neither of the two was giving any chance to other.
Bilal, who had already got two breaks of 44 in the fifth and 40 in the seventh, put together another break of 69 under pressure and went up 5-4. In the 10th, he did not give any opportunity to his rival and went on complete the win with a 37 break.
