SEVERAL bilateral agreements and MoUs, including a couple of Declarations of Intention, will be signed during the visit of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani to Argentina, the country's Ambassador to Qatar HE Carlos Hernandez said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference at Katara Cultural Village in Doha on Tuesday, Hernandez said that the agreements will cover cooperation in diverse sectors, including sports, education, youth issues, national libraries, national universities and agro-industry.
The Ambassador stressed that the signing of a visa waiver agreement between Qatar and Argentina is one of the important agendas of the visit.
Argentina will be the last leg of HH the Amir's Latin America tour, which kicked off in Ecuador and was followed by Peru. The Amir will also visit Paraguay.
Hernandez mentioned the series of meetings to be held between the business people of the two countries.
"During the visit of HH the Amir, one of the important points to be discussed is bringing Argentine companies to establish and produce in Qatar. This is a very important issue and beneficial for both the countries," the envoy added.
On Qatar's efforts to diversify its food industry, Hernandez highlighted the potential of Argentina to make significant contributions to the initiative. He said this is one of the agreements expected to be signed during the visit of HH the Amir.
Ambassador Hernandez further stressed the dynamic bilateral ties between Qatar and Argentina, especially in trade and investments.
With regard to tourism, the Ambassador said the Embassy under his leadership will try to do more to increase the level of cooperation between Qatar and Argentina."The relationship of the two countries on tourism is not working the way it should be. I discovered we signed an agreement earlier and nothing happened. This is an issue we are working on now. We are already in touch with the tourism authority in Qatar and we are thinking of marketing strategy," he said.
Among the highlights of Argentine tourism industry includes its national parks, world heritage sites, health tourism, ecotourism and the country's cultural landscapes. The country also takes pride of its art scene, education tourism and many golf courses.
The Ambassador further said opening a direct flight from Doha to Argentina's capital Buenos Aires, which is already on the table, will help a lot in boosting the tourism cooperation and exchange between the two countries.
